"Literacy Through The Looking Glass: Navigating Dynamic Contexts, Cultures, and Communities"
It’s been over 40 years since literary critic and public intellectual Terry Eagleton called for a “rhetorical turn” in literary studies. Considering the digital revolution that’s occurred over the years since his call, students’ ability to navigate varied contexts, cultures, and communities is more important than ever. In this dynamic keynote teacher-researcher Trevor Aleo will explore ways traditional rhetorical tools can be renewed and reframed to help students develop the flexible repertoire of literacies required to thrive in our rapidly changing world. Attendees can expect a purposeful blend of strategies they can use in class tomorrow and theoretical questions worth wrestling with for years to come.
